Ingredients

2 pounds ground beef chuck
24 slices mozzarella cheese
12 hamburger buns
2 (6.5 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried minced onion
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Directions

  1. Preheat grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate.

  2. Shape beef chuck into 12 patties.

  3. Grill patties on preheated grill until no longer pink in the center, 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Place 2 slices mozzarella cheese on each patty about 1 minute before removing from grill. Place patties on hamburger buns.

  4. Mix tomato sauce, oregano, minced onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl, cover and heat in the microwave on high until heated through, about 5 minutes. Spread tomato sauce mixture over burgers to serve.
