½ fluid ounce kirschwasser
1 tablespoon mezcal
2 dashes chocolate or mole bitters (such as Bittermens® or Fee Brothers®)
maraschino cherries, for garnish

Directions

  1. Put ice in a cocktail shaker. Pour in whiskey, Cherry Heering, and kirschwasser. Then spoon in the mezcal and add a couple dashes of bitters. Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with cherries.

Recipe Note

Based on the Red Ant cocktail created by a NYC bartender. Be sure to use a good quality mezcal. The small amount of it here makes a big difference. I like brandied cherries for the garnish.
