4 slices bacon, diced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
2 (28 ounce) cans baked beans (such as Bush's®)
1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
1 pound smoked pulled pork
½ cup barbeque sauce (such as Sweet Baby Ray's® Sweet 'n Spicy)
½ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
1 tablespoon barbeque rub
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Spray a 9x11-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

  2. Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain bacon on paper towels.

  3. Saute onion and bell pepper in the bacon grease over medium-high heat until soft, about 5 minutes. Add baked beans, apple pie filling, pulled pork, barbeque sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire, mustard, barbeque rub, and cayenne. Pour into the prepared dish.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until bubbly and hot, about 1 hour.

These beans are truly the most fantastic baked beans we have ever had. I can't even begin to describe them. I even had them for lunch as a main dish. We used leftover smoked pulled pork, but you can substitute 1/2 pound crumbled cooked sausage if you don't have any on hand.
